StorageCafé recently researched over 3.4 million rental applications to find out where American renters who opted to change places were coming from, or going to, in 2021. Their findings suggest the City of Atlanta has become a top 10 destination for U.S. renters on the move, from both nearby suburbs and far-flung cities.

The study found Atlanta to be the No. 7 “hotspot” for luring new renters, as ranked according to net migration as a proportion of the city’s population overall. StorageCafé analysts found that Marietta residents constituted the largest number of inbound renters to Atlanta, followed by Decatur and Smyrna.

Forty-six percent of renters looking for Atlanta apartments were from another state, with the largest share of those being from New York, Chicago, and Charlotte.
