George Johnson has been in the commercial real estate financing industry for over 30 years. George began his career in 1983 and worked for 7 years as a commercial mortgage broker handling debt placement on the full range of asset types.
Since that time, George has taken on roles in: management with the nations top SBA lender (The Money Store Investment Corp), loan production with perennial top 3 CMBS lender (Column Financial / Credit Suisse First Boston) and over the previous 6 years with JP Morgan Chase, the largest (bank balance sheet) multifamily lender in the country.
Throughout his career, George has been directly responsible for loan production approaching $1B. Loan production has been concentrated in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions while expertise has been strongly developed on a wide range of asset types including; multifamily, retail, mixed-use, office, industrial, hospitality and healthcare. Although the majority of loans originated were permanent debt, George has also managed construction & bridge debt deals through the process.
George’s banking experience has also included workout and REO roles, as necessitated in the down cycles of the early 90’s (savings & loan crisis / RTC) and most recent financial crisis beginning in 2008. In the recent downturn, George was selected by senior management to oversee the management and ultimately the sale of over 50 bank owned assets in the Philadelphia metro area and the state of Florida.
This experience has provided George with a unique, 360-degree view of the real estate lending process and adds to an already solid understanding of real estate fundamentals, underwriting, valuation and deal structuring.
